Our Rehearsals

As a jazz orchestra the repertoire includes music for  clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, trombones, guitar, keyboards, bass, drums and percussion, and sometimes flutes & piccolos too. We also do vocal numbers, normally with singers who play in the band: our own "Andrews Sisters" are a current star turn!

We focus on jazz standards but also enjoy Latin, rock, funk and other styles.

We welcome all newcomers with or without experience of swing music. We recommend a playing ability of Grade V level or the equivalent as a minimum, and a basic level of reading music. There are no auditions for entry, nor any other kind of restriction, except perhaps a lack of enthusiasm!

We always try to accommodate additional players, and everyone can play at most of our gigs.

We rehearse on Wednesdays throughout the year, 7-45 for 8pm until 10pm.

We hold sectional rehearsals with specialist tutors from time to time, to prepare music in more detail than is possible during the main rehearsals.

We have recently moved to a new rehearsal venue at:

St Matthew's Church
