Our Music

Our music is chosen to reflect the whole range that is written for the conventional big band line-up of 5 saxes, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones and rhythm section of guitar, keyboards, bass and drums. This includes music associated with Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, as well as more modern popular music arranged for big band.

As a jazz orchestra we also include a clarinet section, and some numbers for flutes. We are expanding our vocals repertoire, with in-house singers.

We have a music sub-committee to encourage players to be closely involved with the development and variety of the repertoire.

We have had a number of pieces written specially for us, notably when we won the Adopt-a-Composer Award a few years ago, the first time it had been awarded to a jazz ensemble.
