Our Gigs

In 2008 we played over forty gigs, almost one a week, and in a huge variety of venues from Hilton Hotels to pavements by roundabouts.

We're now well into another busy year. We perform much more often over the summer months, using the quieter times for preparing the music.

Whenever possible our gigs are open to everyone in the band, but sometimes, when there are space limitations, the ensemble has to be by invitation. If so, we try to rotate players so everyone gets an opportunity to do the smaller band gigs if they wish.

We perform in clubs, jazz festivals, parks, bandstands, churches, community centres, private parties, black tie awards ceremonies, museums, thunderstorms, train stations, pavements - even on traffic islands - with and without dancers - variety being the spice of SLJO life!

Churchill Museum & Cabinet War Rooms

We are joining forces with the London Swing Dance Society and the Churchill Museum & Cabinet War Rooms for a bumper "Birthday Boogie" celebration - marking 10 years of the South London Jazz Orchestra, the 135 year anniversary of Winston Churchill's Birthday (30th November 09), 70 year anniversary of the Cabinet War Rooms coming into operation, 25 years since the War Rooms opened to the public!

Don your best 1940s inspired outfits (with prizes for the best dressed) and come ready for an evening of dancing, fun classes and fabulous live music.
